You know, I'll be sad when the inevitable occurs. I've grown attached to them.
obviously..FIRESTONE
Doogle
They do rock!
Must be lonely there all alone on the planet :)
I would have loved to have been in the room the first time the engineers pitched the airbag landing.
can't expect them to last forever. They did a good job on these rovers.
I think they will get another year.
I'm surprised it lasted this long considering it was built by GM UAW workers.
I've been visiting the rover site for new pics every day for nearly the whole time.
Are we sure they're alone? :-)
Hopefully we'll be able to send a mission along in a few years and bring 'em back for the Smithsonian.
No. They weren't. They were built by JPL scientists.

Countless times I have imagined, with a smile, a Martian sitting on his porch having a drink, as a beachball rolls-up, deflates, opens like a flower, and disgorges a wheeled contraption.
These rovers are one of the things NASA has gotten right over the years. I hate to see one of them beginning to fail, but my what a great performance.
Bush's fault (sorry, had to be the first)
Now Sheila Jackson may never see the American flag left on Mars by the Apollo astronauts.
Some of the best money NASA ever spent...I wonder if this is where we are going to set down at when we go to Mars?
Gusev Crater (MPI) - A spokesthing for Mars Air Force denounced as "false rumors" that an alien space craft crashed in the desert, outside of Ares Vallis on Saturday. Appearing at a press conference today, General Rgrmrmy The Lesser stated that "the object was, in fact, a harmless high-altitude weather balloon, not an alien spacecraft".
The story broke late Saturday night when a major stationed at nearby Ares Vallis Air Force Base contacted the Gusev Crater Daily Record with a story about a strange, balloon-shaped object which allegedly came down in the nearby desert, "bouncing" several times before coming to a stop, and "deflating in a sudden explosion of alien gases."
And a few more paragraphs. Search for General Rgrmrmy for the several hundred pages with copies.
