Jack Welch was brilliant. His policies of measuring performance, rewarding achievement, and terminating the underperforming 10-20% were very effective. And spurred growth. France is not GE. There is not good corporate governance in France, nor is there autocratic leadership. Welch could not even help France today. As a nation-state, France must go through these spasms of further economic contraction; and elect accountable leadership. I wish them luck. Because history indicates that the French can go a wee bit "over the top" when implementing social change.
