The ships today just don't mount enough guns.Those pirates would have been really surprised if they had tried this on a WW2 ship like a light cruiser.Surprise would be very short lived though.

Both of those ships have a 5 inch gun that can pump out alot fire. Plus, they both have CIWS. Of course, neither of them are an Iowa class with nine 16 inch guns and a bunch more 5 inch ones.

I agree. Although I wonder if the CWIS can only be fired through radar target aquisition at arial targets, or if it can be fired manually at surface targets. A few 1/4 second bursts from a CWIS would ruin any pirate's day! There really should be at least 6 (maybe 1 fore and aft, and 2 on each side, to be able to bring at least 3 to bear on any single target) or more M-2 mounts, and maybe some of those nifty little automatic grenade launchers.
