You are a terrorist, that's why!!! But the obvious question must then be asked. If he is a terrorist, why was President Bush meeting with him in the White House?
It does seem a bit silly to, on the one hand, invite him to the White House, and on the other hand, detain him from boarding an airplane.
Some of us were discussing it on another thread - the War on Terror is really only a War on Islamofscism - the Bush administration only seems interested in fighting Islamism.
But, I guess the IRA are still recognized as a terror group, thus Adams got detained - and rightly so!
