We gain nothing? Who is we?

We Republicans or we Americans?

Although I am a Republican, even if by any criteria you choose to judge that Republicans lose anyway and there is no difference between a Democrat or McCain or Guiliani winning, I believe the Nation, all of us, would lose with a Democrat win and would gain much with a Guiliani win.

To me there is a hell of difference. And I hope it's the same for all clear thinking voters.

Bush will leave a huge mess and it will take proven competence to at least attempt a clean up. The right words on abortion will mean very little in the scheme of things.

Both.

Why should I vote for him?

So far, I see nothing but romantic notions of his personality as the reason. Sorry, but voters these days are too sophisticated to vote for the Giuliani the Myth in the face of his liberal public record.

Prior to 9-11, Giuliani suffered a sagging popularity. The boost since then is akin to the boost Bush gained in the aftermath of the attack.

But as we are seeing with Bush, such a bubble is bound to burst. The public has a short memory. Voters are fickle.

The support Giuliani gained from 9-11 alone is not enough to sustain him throughout the rigors of a campaign. He does not hold up to scrutiny, particularly in this internet age, when the stakes on so many social issues are higher than ever.
