"The key to 2006 is for Republicans to present a unified front with a centerpiece conservative agenda that will get people out to the polls which will be critical to Republican success"

The republicans will have a difficult time doing this. Their wasteful spending, new big government programs, and the lack of a meaningful domestic policy will make their efforts in the next 7 months seem phony.

IMHO, the election will hinge more on the price of gas this summer and fall than all the election year politicking the lobbyists money can buy.

You may have point but I don't think it is going to hinge on the Price of gas. I do think that has an effect but I think National security will trump that. Do conservatives really want to have control of the House or Senate fall back to the Democrats while the Iraq is going on with the possibility of a confrontation with Iran? I don't like the big spending policies of the Bush administration but I'll not be party to giving the President a defeat in the time of war. I'll not reward that cowards and traitors in the Democratic party after doing what they have to undermine our efforts in Iraq.
