"Maybe he was just trying to keep them on our good side."
"Seems like our best friends in the UAE have no compunction regarding providing US military hardware to Iran. I am shocked and surprised."
Of course what the article does not tell is where the engine parts where halted. Was it halted in Mexico? US? An airport in the UAE? Elsewhere. Your jumping to conclusions in thinking some kind of deal was made with officials in the UAE. The article only makes it clear the overseas destinations where to be three countries and then end point Iran. So for all I know the customs in Belgium, Malaysia, and the UAE may have intercepted the band airfreight.
So I would not write much into this. Also. Wonder how many terminals in the US ports are operated and leased by Malaysian companies under the agreements between the US Ports and the mother country.

Well thought out response. I see we still have the knee-jerk emotions flying around here. Customs has stated publicly that the UAE has been instrumental in cases like this. Of course no one pays attention to testimony in front on the Senate... unless it is NEGATIVE for Republicans. Then it is "neon-light" time for sure.
