There were Marines at Normandy. Marines served on Eisenhower's staff. Marines landed in North Africa. Marines served in the OSS in Europe. The Army propaganda machine never mentions any of that though.
Marines served on board the battleships that bombarded the Normandy shoreline, directing very accurate and effective fires. Didn't know that any landed with The Army, but they, and their Navy brethren were invaluable.
