Who would that be fun for?
Other than someone who hates Christians?
They've pretty much punched their ticket to Hell.
Just your average college pranks...
Wow. Maybe the fire marshall's profile software got it wrong, but my spidey sense had it pegged pretty close.
I never underestimate the innate stupidity possible to 19 year old boys. They are capable of the most idiotic behaviors you can imagine, and some you cannot imagine.
At least, this group of three will get a long, long time to consider their stupidity, and perhaps some lessons in prison romance.
Sadly, since they are adults, their parents cannot be held financially responsible for the arsons.
How I wish I could be on their juries! I would give them the full 45 years, plus they would have to make restitution to all nine congregations when they were sprung in about 20 years. They should be used as an example for all over-grown brats, who think they are something special and can make their own rules. No doubt they are the products of some educators who emphasized self-esteem, rather than maturity and responsibility to others. By the time they do a couple of years in the slammer, they might find out they are nothing special after all.
The biblical word for church is not a building.. or even a place..
They burned churches not people....forgiveness and salvation is there for these young men if they will reach for it!
Another stupid jusge allows bail, " they had no priors and came from good families".
Speaking of destructive teen/young adults who do this kind of thing, some teens in Salem, MA were arrested for spraypainting swastikas and other graffiti on neighborhood homes and plaques/statues in a park. They said they did it because they were made fun of in a local restaurant/bar because of how they looked and dressed: Goths (remember Columbine? Though Salem
police quickly said that not all Goths should be blamed
for the actions of a few...)
... saw burning churches as a "joke" calls to mind the case of Nathan Leopold and Richard Loeb, two wealthy students at the University of Chicago with genius IQs, who murdered a child in 1924 for the sheer philosophical thrill of it.
Sorry, there's no great "creativity" or "philosophical thrill" -- these boys are plain old lowlife sociopaths - as were the Chicago boys...
Theater majors? Do these guys like show tunes?
Or someone who likes to set fires...
Yeah. I saw that angle too. Wouldn't surprise me if all this other stuff is a smokescreen and these are just "activists" bashing Christians.
FAIR? FAIR? I know a lawyer has to come up with some kind of defense. But Damn.
That's right! Just look at the wide variety of things they burned down, completely at random, during their totally-spontaneous, nonmalicious torching spree.
FAIR? FAIR? I know a lawyer has to come up with some kind of defense. But Damn.
I would have responded, "You are absolutely correct. That would be a great injustice".
"It it however, eminently fair to hang a 19 year old boy for the brutal thrill murder of a fourteen year old child."
