Rasmussen polled a 19% favorable on the UAE deal. Republicans, Democrats, Conservatives and Liberals hated this deal. There is no other way to explain these numbers. Stupid idea!

No other way? How about a racist anti-Arab liberal media stoking the fires, and helped along by racist anti-Arabs like Hitlery and Chuckles Schumer?

Worked for the South Vietnamese

Actually it worked for the Viet Cong. I think it was Walter Cronkite who blew the tet offensive out of proportion and started the dominoes falling into what would turn into 1.5 million innocent people being massacred by the khmer rouge in Cambodia.

"Name any other Presidential idea or policy that had a 19% favorable rating since President Bush has been in office."

That doesn't really address my point, does it? I mean about informed vs. uninformed (and sometimes biggoted) opinion.

As far as Islam being a peaceful religion, I'd say it was fairly peaceful until the rise of radical Islam back in the 1970s. Most American Muslims are peaceful. The Koran contains a lot of hate and angry talk, to be sure, but until the past 30 years or so, most enlightened Muslims ignored such talk or viewed it similarly to how most Christians view troubling portions of the Bible.

By all accounts, UAE is in the process of becoming an "enlightened" Muslim country. We ought to encourage such a shift. It can help us win this struggle.

There is no comparison between Chicoms and jihadists. Americans are smart enough to know the difference.

Yeah, Chicoms have slaughtered millions of human beings and fought two major wars against America (Korea and Vietnam), and possess nuclear weaponry and intercontinental ballistic missals. Jihadists have blown themselves up periodically and taken a few of us with them along the way.

You are right. No comparison at all.

America the worlds market, the worlds protector, needs no other country for trade or defense - the world needs US.

Let me see if I have this straight. You are willing to nuke one-third of our annual GDP?

I keep hearing that the American people were duped by various shadow groups working behind the scenes

No shadow groups. Just knee-jerk commentators and pandering politicians. Give me the facts please so that I too might understand just how uniformed I am along with the American people?

Well, here's one. The vast majority of the opponents of this deal repeatedly referred to it as the UAE "taking over our ports". That's just flatly untrue. Yet, even when you'd point that out to an opponent, they'd continue using that same misleading verbiage.

but I fail to see how you get a 19% favorable even if you take your allegations seriously.

Hell, if they really were "taking over our ports", I'd have opposed it too. It was just that when this story came out, I called one of my naval buddies, and then talked to a former merchant ship captain a couple of days after that. They couldn't believe the level of disinformation.

Allies is what you meant to spell, but I understand your point although I think you are dead wrong. The UAE, Saudi Arabia and others in the region use the Palestinian people as a tool to control the masses. With their vast fortunes, are you trying to tell me that they couldn't find a peaceful solution to the Palestinian problem? It's easier to use them as a wedge any time they need to play up Arab nationalism. Pathetic!

"If you don't want to trust the American people, then that is you. I will trust the American people."

"I favored clinton go on trial for Treason."

As Dane said, 70% of the American people did not want Clinton impeached. He was not impeached, and got away with perjury and obstruction of justice.

Now, stand and cheer for the people you trusted, and thank them for not paying attention to you.

Stupid idea!

Well, well. I'm glad that 81% of Americans (let's just conservatively estimate that 50% of whom didn't even know where Dubai was until last month, and 95% of whom still don't know what a CFIUS is) are smarter than 100% of the decision makers with all the information. You know, the ones charged via CFIUS with - first and foremost - defending our nation. (You did know that, right? Of course you did.)

It would seem to me that the Dubai Ports owners would have been more experienced in knowing or sniffing out al Qaeda agents than many of our naive American citizens who have had few or no ties with Middle East nations.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. That is just an excellent point. 9/11 happened here because we were incompetent, not because we were knowingly complicit. DPW is efficient as hell, and I think to the extent a terminal operator would have any role in security at all, we're less safe because they won't be running those terminals.

Can you name any off the top of your head? I mean you should have these talking points down if you want to argue that it was a mistake to deny the deal.
