LOL! yea, VanWinkle as Barbarino. Or Marshall Mathers :)

Ice Cube is a lousy choice. As much as I detest Robin Williams, he would be a much better choice to play Kotter.

Never watched Kotter so I can't comment on the pick.
Just shows you how out of ideas Hollywierd is with all the remakes.
They better not touch one of the BEST TV shows of all time though....

Good grief, I guess they didn't learn their lesson yet with all the remake bombs. What's next? The Partridge Family with Queen Latiffa as the mom and Flava-Flav as the slimy agent?

Eb and Mr. Haney were (are) born again Christians, as was Eddie Albert. Everyone on that show had class.

Mr. Haney Sorry, I meant Mr. Kimball
To: WestVirginiaRebel
They're moving location to LA instead of Brooklyn. Why?
I think the only thing about this that will resemble the original is the title. Hollywood: still bereft of ideas.

One of my primary indicators of whether or not a movie is worthy of watching is if anyone named Ice-T or Ice-Cube is in the cast.
So long Kotter.....

Yup, this is a good decision. Yessiree.

How about if Ang Lee is hired as the director, and then Barbarino can sodomize Horshack in class?

I'm tempted to think that Mr. Cube fancied a remake of To Sir, With Love. Knowing he can't hold a candle to Sidney Poitier, takes Welcome Back, Kotter instead and changes all the characters and the location.
Also, whenever you hear a story has been "updated", you know that's an excuse for a politically correct lesson in multiculturalism and liberal doctrine.

The only character I ever really liked was Kotter's wife (Marcia Strassman).

She looks great even today.

About the only remakes I've enjoyed are The Fugitive, The Brady Bunch and Starsky and Hutch, because the latter two didn't take themselves seriously (Snoop Dogg was a riot as Huggy Bear).

Ice-T has actually been pretty good on Law And Order: SVU but you're right; his movies have a tendency to suck.

I"m confused: I could have sworn they said "Ice-T" was the pick, not "Ice Cube." "Ice Cube" is, in fact, pretty funny. He was great in "Barbershop," and I liked him in "Are We There Yet?" (I know, I don't have the highest taste in movies). "Ice T" is excellent as Finn in "Law and Order SVU," but I never saw him as a comedian, and therefore I thought that pick was a stretch. So which is it?
