Eventually there will be only one job in France. But it'll pay three figures, provide 4 months of paid vacation, and allow retirement with a generous pension at age 55. And the government will still cave if the job holder strikes.

If this is true, then why not avoid all the injuries and costs associated with dealing with an ever-escalating situation and surrender immedietly?

Have there been strikes like this in the past where the government "won"?
