"CRS = SS!" chanted protesters at the Sorbonne, comparing the riot police to the leading Nazi troops. At least eight riot police were injured in the unrest and several dozen youths, many of them hooded or masked, were hauled away by police.
The protests could hurt the conservative Villepin's hopes of running for president in 2007. He says the law will help reduce unemployment among the young, now running at 22.8 percent, more than twice the overall national rate.
Opinion polls show Villepin's popularity has tumbled during the biggest test of his 10 months in office.
Street protests can make or break governments in France. Protests in 1995 badly undermined the then conservative Prime Minister Alain Juppe, who lost snap elections two years later.

Wow, authority figures NEVER get compared to Nazis. What a unique perspective.
Was it disaffected African yutes this time?
They wear burquas for the same reasons.
This is why that country is destined to fall to the islamics.
They have no concept of reality anymore. Everyone expects the government to provide them with everything.
The law would give employers a way to fire someone if they don't do their job after two years. TWO YEARS. This is what the yoots are so upset about...only guaranteed a paycheck for two years, after that you have to work.
Don't got a dawg in this fight. Dominic de Villepin, the holder of the most magnificent hair of any French intellectualoid, versus students who don't want to work and don't want to be fired for not working...nope. A plague on both their houses.
I have been looking for an image of stick a fork in it but google images is down. France will be the first to cave into Islam!
Spoiled upper-middle-class college students who want a guaranteed no-fire job after graduation
Ah liberal heaven!
And what will happen then? If France becomes an Islamic state, who will build the AirBus, bake the baguettes, and pay the welfare bills?
Actually, in this case, the yutes are driving the voters right to Sarkozy.
CONSERVATIVE????
BWAHAHAHHAHAHHAHHAHHHHAHHAHHHAHHAHHAHAHHHHHH!!!!!
Can't we just push "Play Paris, 1968" and get it over with??? LOL!
This man is exactly what franch most needs at the moment. His first act as French president should be to arrest Chirac for treason.
C'mon now. "Students?" Why can't the media get it right. These "protestors" are muslims fighting the war against the Blue Eyed Devils.
I think the plague has already visited.
