My question is why are people reading the sign?
If it is illegible, then DON'T READ IT!
If it's causing traffic problems, then DON'T READ IT!
I have the same type of sign on my commute (the old Circle Star in San Carlos), and I ignore it daily.

I have the same type of sign on my commute (the old Circle Star in San Carlos), and I ignore it daily. It's a little hard to ignore the crawling traffic, although I was tempted to rearend the person in front of me just to get him/her to find the gas pedal. /sarcasm.
