Gregory is just doing it to impress Howard Dean, like
Hinckley with Jodie Foster.

Oh please, he's a bummbling moron and its his job to represent the U.S. administration amongst the attack dog media.

If he can't do his job he needs to step down. That's honor.

Get a guy like rummy up there, a no nonsense kind of guy who will take these guys head on.

The opinion of the US toward the media has plummeted.

And McClellan DOES do his job...every day.

He's extremely faithful. Too bad you don't appreciate a good man.

then have Bush step into the briefing room when this kind of crap goes on - and dismiss Gregory himself.

LOL...that would be awesome, oceanview! Why not?!

President Bush has eluded the press before and covertly slipped into Iraq (at a Thanksgiving dinner, no less), Afghanistan, Crawford, etc.

Why not the WH press room?!

He does do his job with honor, I sure don't dispute that. It would almost be an act of mercy to put someone else in the position, and give the man a break!

Part of my position is just that. He has been beat up long enough. But it doesn't necessarily mean someone should be put in the position who doesn't do the job with honor, there a lot of ways to shut down a briefing and keep control of the room, with honor.

"We really gotta start taping these"
------someone should really put together a streaming audio/'video/slide show thing which could start with H. Dean's campaign shreiking, follow through with a myriad of images, (my favorite being the Kerry-Edwards feel-up fest during the campaign, when they couldn't keep their hands off each other) and ending with highlights from David Gregory's total of 15 minutes of Press Conference fame.
Any FReepers out there to rise to this challenge? I know it's a lotta work, but I am not technically proficient at this stuff.

No, the Press are the ones suffering currently. They have plummetting ratings.

I think Pres. Bush appreciates McClellan's service. He's doing just fine.

Gregory and Thomas need to stop having sex with each other before the briefings, it makes them both so cranky.

LOL!

Someone who deals with the rabid press every day and reiterates Bush's policies over and over again in the face of that is no wimp. Sorry you feel that way about a man who does his job with honor.

the press is "rabid" partly b/c day after day this wimp allows them to walk all over him. Can you imagine this press group treating Rumsfeld this way? McClellan needs to watch tapes of Rumsfeld dealing with the press. 'Does his job with honor' ? again, give me a break. The guy looks utterly weak and gives the impression to our enemies that this Admin is on the defensive. When McClellan leaves, things will improve.

Agree, SandRat...someone rewrote the rules of covering the news while we weren't looking.

Some blogs and sites like FR are taking some of that lost ground back.

That's a load.

The press has been rabid since Nixon's day. It's nothing that started with McClellan.

McClellan doesn't let them "walk all over them". He constantly gives them the true facts. He frustrates them because he's not an in-your-face type. Good for him.
