Nazis? Olbermann Takes His War On O'Reilly To Comedy Central
Newsbusters ^ | 3-15-06 | Tim Graham

Comedy Central star Stephen Colbert’s nightly conservative/O’Reilly-mocking show "The Colbert Report" invited on MSNBC host Keith Olbermann Tuesday night to double up on the O’Reilly bashing. It started predictably, before the word "Nazi" came out:

Colbert: "Why do you have a problem with my hero, papa bear Bill O'Reilly? You guys have been going at it, hammer and tongs."

Olbermann: "Well, Stephen, he's an idiot."

Colbert: "You say that like it's a bad thing. I think he sees the world simply, okay? Without all your complicated facts."

Olbermann: "We're both saying the same thing. He's an idiot."

Did Olbermann really have to drag out the word "Nazi"? Oh yes, even if it violates Jon Stewart’s "Hitler reference" comedic principle from that other Comedy Central show. Colbert drew out the spat O’Reilly had with Olbermann fans on his syndicated Westwood One radio program:

Colbert: "Isn't it illegal for anyone to say the name Olbermann on his radio show now?"

Olbermann: "Apparently so."

Colbert: "Tell me what happened."

Olbermann: "Apparently last week or the week before somebody called up and used my name. He cut them off and then explained that they'd be getting a little visit from Fox security and that Fox security would then contact the local authorities. So Mike from Orlando, ‘will be getting a little visit.’ (Said in mock moron voice.) Two or three of these people who did call up and mention my name actually got phone calls from Fox security. [Here's one claim of that.] Which is, you know, fascinating if, you know, we're living in, say, Nazi Germany, it’s a good idea. Otherwise it's kind of....you're going to arrest people who disagree with you."

The only thing I want to know from Olbermann is what he thinks about the Yankees prospects this season.

What really pathetic is the Hate Leftist like Olbermann and Stewart posture as if THEY are sophisticated. They are a pair of the most intellectually vacuous butt boys ever to be on TV. There is nothing deep, serious or intellectual in their commentary. Mindless hate for anyone different then them is NOT intellectually serious.

Conservatives and O'Reilly are becoming obsessed with Olberman , elevating him to a status far above his audience numbers, O'Reilly, by fighting him, lowers his own status downward.

The jealous Olbermann must fantasize about getting a phone-sex call from The Big-O?

More interestingly, Olbermann was on a satirical show with a host who shares his politics and whose whole shtick is pretending to be the people Olbermann hates in order to lampoon them.

Yet Olbermann wasn't able to engage himself the concept and wound up making himself look like a buffoon.

Lesson: be careful when you're running to catch the subway.

Facial chemical peel to look younger. All the metros are doing it, not to mention actual homosexuals like Olbermann. It's quite fashionable.

I quite listening to the Dan Patrick show on ESPN because they have decided to include Olbergruppenfuehrer. Bad move by ESPN.

Olbermann is angry because he isn't one of the popular kids.

Olbermann should have stuck with sports. He actually knows somethign about that and it's an arena where his brand of humor actually works. I liked him as a sports guy.

And "Sports Center" hasn't been as good since he left.

100 percent agreement. Patrick and Olberman were a great duo.

I quite listening to the Dan Patrick show on ESPN because they have decided to include Olbergruppenfuehrer.

Surprising, considering the less-than-wonderful terms on which Olbermann left ESPN. He wasn't even invited back for the parade of ex-anchors for ESPN's 25th anniversary.

However, he and Patrick always had a great chemistry and Patrick still misses him and even uses a few Olbermann catch phrases every now and then.

I'm willing to listen to Keith discuss sports -- that's his area. But like so many sports guys, he itches to be taken seriously, so he moved into an area where he is way beyond his capacity.

Oh, I see. He's on MSNBC. No wonder. It's the Dollar General of news networks.

He is one sick guy.

If you ever want to see conservative comments taken way out of context, just watch Comedy Central characters like Stewart or Colbert, or watch those suffering from ratings envy on MSNBC like Olberman.

Unfortunately, I think its BOR that has the obsession now.

If you listen to his rants about listeners calling and mentioning Olberman and how Fox security will contact your local authorities, he's become unhinged.

I can't stand Olberman, he is a major douchebag, but O'Reilly is sounding NUTS with all of the threats to listeners.

Who is Olbermann, you ask?

A recycled dinosaur whose ratings reflect a similar resemblance to the first letter of his last name.
