SCHOOLHOUSE PINKOS: LEAVING KIDS BEHIND (the three R's---revolution, rejection, repudiation)
NY POST ^ | March 16, 2006 | EDITORIALS

Posted on 03/16/2006 4:40:12 AM PST by Liz

**** In high-school classrooms today, the three R's refer to revolution, rejection and repudiation. Traditional education is taking a back seat to social-reform rhetoric and revisionist rants, with nary reproof from responsible parents. Manhattan

**** Thank you for printing Stern's excellent piece, which details the extent to which our public schools have been taken over by Marxist America-haters. It seems there are three particular fields that are extremely attractive to those who despise capitalism and the West and who want to dedicate themselves to changing the system: law, journalism and academia. You won't find many left-wing ideologues selling used cars, fixing clogged drains or filling people's cavities. We should be aware that there are many people who hate our values and our way of life and who are doing everything in their power to undermine this great country of ours....... Rego Park

**** Starting in the late 1960s, teachers decided that their role was not to educate the young, but rather to indoctrinate them. They were going to make a difference - which, unfortunately for society, they accomplished. Today's students can't identify the United States on a map, write a grammatically correct sentence, add or subtract simple numbers or explain the economic system in which they live. But they can regurgitate every left-wing delusion, demonstrating that they haven't a clue to what it means to think. Port Jefferson Station

****Bennish should be fired simply for not doing his job. If I work for Verizon, and instead of fixing your phone I bash President Bush, I should be fired. If I were a fireman and let your house burn down while denouncing the country, I should be fired. Allowing Bennish to continue to work only shows that the powers that be agree with him, and that's sad. Little Neck

Young people today don't seem to know a lot about some aspects of history. Example, I work for the Marine Corps and saw a young Marine at the gym wearing a T-shirt with Che Guevara's photo and name on it. Of course the shirt was red. I didn't approach the young man about the shirt, but I suspect that he knows little or nothing about Che's murderous past as a henchman for Castro.
