There are lots of Iraqi forces participating in Operation Swarm right now.
They are not ready to do it on their own yet, but they are progressing very well. Remember, this was an army who had their asses handed to them twice by the U.S. It's going to take patience.
It is not time to pull out yet, Mr. Murtha.
"Pssssst! Pick up a newspaper every now and again. The Iraqis have been risking and losing life and limb for a very long time now."
One of you calls me Murtha and the other thinks I don't read newspapers. Sheesh!
It is indeed time for the average Iraqi to pick up a gun and start killing the terrorists in their midst. Until they do, they are going to continue to get car bombed and killed in their own neighborhoods. Their aren't enough troops in the whole US and Iraqi armies combined to do it for them. It is going to take a whole lot of armed citizens who take some initiative and purge the terrorists.
We are there to help, but we can't do it for them. They know their neighborhoods and the people in them. Our military can't easily distinguish the foreigners but the locals sure can.
They have the same choice we would have if it was happening here. Roll over and die, or do something about it.
I applaud the Iraqis who are arming themselves. They are the ones who will free their country.
