Yawns is a recent problem with Bush's speeches. He needs to get more specific, particularly about Iraq, as to what is changing, and what is not, and the risks and rewards and costs of plan A or plan B. Broad brush Bush soaring generalities now turn folks off. He really needs new speech writers, and those that help compose the texts. I really mean that.
I totally agree the president needs new speech writers. He keeps giving just about the same speech over and over again with minor tweeks and that has turned people off.
He should try visiting Iraq...
They called him a liar, said the war was waged for political purposes, on and on and on. What a disgrace.
David Frum made a similar point a year ago (before things really headed south with his approval). I think you are right and I don't understand why that problem can't be solved.
I have to agree with this. His speeches, even since the election campaign have been banal and repetitive. I know repetition is the essence of communicating from the stump, but there is a limit, when the people have 'heard it all before' and turn off; and GW's speeches hit that limit a good year ago.
