On the 4pm hour of CNN's The Situation Room, 'anchor' Jack Cafferty made the audience aware of Republicans attempting to reform lobbying procedures. Specifically, House Republicans are introducing a bill that would increase the reporting requirements for lobbyists who take members out to dinner or buy them expensive gifts. Before reading a description of the bill, Cafferty asked CNN watchers if they wanted to "laugh out loud", implying that you can not take this call for reform serious.
Cafferty lamented his opinion by calling those who believe that Republicans are committed to lobbying reform, "retards

I would agree with him. Which just goes to show the truth in the old adage about stopped clocks being right twice a day. I think both parties are institutionally corrupt. And I think anyone who believes otherwise is either willfully delusional or they have partisan blinders on that are truly impressive.

If he had included democrats I couldn't find fault with his comment. I had the same initial reaction. Then it dawned on me, it all depends on the meaning of "reform."
I think there is a need to find new ways to work graft and corruption, becuase the public is geting wise to the old ways. That too is "reform."
The mistake is to equate "reform" with elimination of corruption.

As far as I'm concerned, the current form of lobbying is just legalized bribery. True lobbying comes in the form of letters from constituents.

Can you imagine if Tony Snow, or Brit Hume, or Joe Scarborough called someone a "retard?" They'd probably be fired.

This is Cafferty's way of saying "We've got to win the House back this election year, and this Abramoff scandal is the way to do it!"
To: llevrok
I think we should take turns in different ways seriously telling him how hurt we are because we have mentally retarded friends or family and he should take a minute to apologize or at least send them a note to make their day.
If and when he does ask for their name and address send him to your favorite Democrat Congressional leader.
