Fearing for their safety: European monitors at the Rafah crossing left their posts Tuesday afternoon, Palestinian sources reported.
The Europeans apparently decided to leave the crossing after being instructed to do so in light of fears for their safety, after more than a dozen foreign nationals were abducted in the Gaza Strip and West Bank in protest of the IDF's Jericho operation Tuesday.
Israeli security officials are closely monitoring the situation, as Rafah constitutes the major crossing between the Gaza Strip and Egypt, with developments in the area possibly affecting Israel. At this time, the army is not preparing to enter the area, but military officials spoke of concerns that Palestinian mobs, including many gunmen, will arrive at the site and breach the fence separating Gaza and Egypt.
At this time, Israel and Egypt are maintaining their security coordination, with both parties exchanging information regarding developments at the crossing. Palestinian police officers in the area, however, are not working to prevent disorder at the site.

Are those pussies even armed. Or are they like the Canadian border guards.
Isn't this like the 3rd time they've run away from that border crossing?
I'm sure everytime they do, their are islamic jihad guys rushing the border with crates of weapons and explosives.
Wait a minute, are the monitors of the crossing between Gaza in Egypt? My last post may have been off base.
Which way did they flee? Wouldn't that tell you which side is the more civilized and humane??? Did they go to Israel or the "Palestine" side??
Given that they're from the EU, my money is on "no." Arming your monitors is a provocation and would just encourage attacks against them. Or so the thinking would go ...
"EU monitors flee Gaza crossing"
Isreal should tell them to "flee" into Gaza afterall isn't that who the EU is protecting.
Palestine needs to do a better job of providing security for the monitors.
However, even though the monitors fled, at least in the past the border crossing was also closed, so the crossing wasn't simply open and unmonitored, though it's hard to have a lot of credibility in saying it's really closed when they can't even keep the monitors safe.

No. The last time this happened the Egyptian guards, who are armed, didn't return fire as they had no orders. Two of them died.
Egypt. These are the monitors at the Rafah crossing between Gaza and Egypt.
They are worthless and any country that relies on them is an idiot.
countdown to Palestinian implosion.
A State? They can't even run a prison.
