Maybe someone rang the doorbell or phoned her? I'd say she was not in bed, but I couldn't say for certain whether there was an assailant at her front door.

They lived in a real nice apartment complex with enough lighting. I don't know about assailants unless a theory that they came to help him. But, he's 6 4 or 6 5.
