She's beautiful. Prayers for Miss McAvoy.
She was text messaging her parents at the time.
My hearing specialist already has been in contact with one here in Montana.
Scrolled the thread and gathered your names as mentioning you are either deaf/HOH or had direct experience with it.
If youre interested in being on a new Deaf/HOH ping list please let me know. Its something I've always wanted available here at Fr. If you have some interest certainly Freepmail me if you'd like...also please see my profile.
Oh my, the poor girl then was simply concentrating on what she was doing and didn't know what was coming.
That is both sad and stupid I'm sorry to say.
Why was she in such close proximity to the tracks?
I can only guess she was there to get close enough to feel the train go by for the thrill, then text messaged her parents, and was caught by surprise by the train that got her.
She unintentionally set herself up to die. :(
Another bit of interest in this accident, is that the portion of track she was on is ribbon rail. That is long sections of RR track which are welded together and don't bounce or vibrate on the ties.
The older rail tracks were bolted together and the rails would move up and down as a train was approaching. With the ribbon rails, the welds do not give at all and there is no vibration on the RR ties.
sure!
