Well, I do agree a lot of media did demogogue the issue and conservatives lapped it up.
But radio hosts like Rush and Tony Snow did not contribute to that.

Are you completely unaware of the terrorist connections the UAE has or do you think we could chance a takeover of six ports despite that it?

Interesting how the "I'm a liberal and I'm nuanced" crowd screamed the loudest that "Iraq didn't attack us on 9/11." Bush never said Iraq was responsible. He said that 9/11 made us more alert to ALL potential threats. But the leftists can't (or won't) see that "nuance."

Guess what? Florida has terror connections. They trained how to fly there. I guess you would block Floridians from the port business?

A upper-level management of some terminals at six ports.
They woudldn't be "taking over" the docks of the whole friggin city. ><
To: Conservative Coulter Fan
It wasn't even the "Ports". It was certain terminals within the "Ports."

I'll take that as a whopping, "NO!!!"
- Iran Focus reports another Dubai-based company, this one owned by the Iranian government, has been used by Tehran's defense ministry to procure a key component needed for the production of nuclear weapons.
- The official Iranian Islamic Republic News Agency reports Deputy Foreign Minister Mehdi Mostafavi and the UAE's Sheikh Mohammad pledged to strengthen ties between the two Persian Gulf nations.
- The 9-11 commission report document how al-Qaida and the 9-11 terrorists used Dubai as a banking facility, as well as a country of transit.
- As far back as 1999, U.S. intelligence spotted Osama bin Laden at a desert training camp in Afghanistan for about a week. There was an opportunity to destroy the entire camp with cruise missiles. But the operation was called off because an official aircraft from the UAE was spotted, along with members of the royal family.
It turned out bin Laden was hunting with the princes of the UAE. Concerned that the princes might be collateral damage in a strike, the mission was called off. Two years later, 3,000 Americans were killed as a result.
- In addition, at least two of the 19 hijackers were from the UAE. The UAE was one of only three countries in the world to recognize the Taliban regime in Afghanistan.

9-11 terrorists used Dubai as a banking facility Oh, brother. I guess we need to shut Switzerland down too? The Nazis had accounts there.
And what about Florida? You didn't answer the question.
To: cvq3842
That's BS and they ought to know it by now! The CIA confirmed a story that the two of the 9/11 hijackers met Iraqi intelligence officials several months before 9/11 in Dubai! Just mention two words: Salam Pak...Read Richard Miniter's new book exposing that and other myths about the war in Iraq.

I really hate to admit this, but I agree with him. This issue was tailor-made for demagogues everywhere, even those who call themselves "conservatives." To be more precise, this one was room service for the Buchananites (the Republican equivalent of moveon.org, but fortunately much smaller and less influential within the GOP).

Hmm. Like a stopped clock is right twice a day, it sounds like Thomas got this one about right, generally speaking, although his lumping all of talk radio together the way he did was childish and scumbaggy. Personally, I agreed with Rush on the Dubai Ports World issue.
To: Conservative Coulter Fan
Is Evan Thomas talking about you?
To: Lancey Howard
The two prominent talk show hosts who got it right were Rush Limbaugh and Tony Snow. The rest were downright embarrassing.
