I agree totally with you, which leads me to ask a question that I am always puzzled about, but have yet to see answered.
I agree that McCain-Feingold is a clear violation of the 1st amendment freedom of speech rights. So if that is so obvious, why hasn't this been challenged in court and I would think that even a liberal-activist SCOTUS would throw McCain-Feingold out like yesterday's trash. Why hasn't that happened yet? It seems like this would have been challenged successfully in court the moment Pres Bush (go figure that one out) broke his 2000 campaign promise and signed this aberration into law.
All I can say is I am baffled. SCOTUS did not throw the law out when it was challenged. Hopefully it will be challenged. You would think the ACLU would go crazy over it. Their silence is deafening.
