Feingold Draws Little Support for Censure
By LAURIE KELLMAN, Associated Press Writer 18 minutes ago
Democrats distanced themselves Monday from Wisconsin Sen. Russell Feingold's effort to censure President Bush over domestic spying.
The White House hit back at the same time, Vice President Dick Cheney telling a fundraiser in Feingold's home state that the resolution was an "outrageous proposition."
As the crowd in De Pere, Wis., booed Feingold's effort, Cheney said, "Don't hold back."
Feingold's fellow Democrats did just that Monday, with several saying they wanted first to see the Senate Intelligence Committee finish an investigation of the warrantless wiretapping program that Bush authorized as part of his war on terrorism.
Asked at a news conference whether he would vote for the censure resolution, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada declined to endorse it and said he hadn't read it.
Sen. Joe Lieberman, D-Conn., said he had not read it either and wasn't inclined simply to scold the president.
"I'd prefer to see us solve the problem," Lieberman told reporters.
Across the Capitol, reaction was similar. Feingold's resolution drew empathy but no outright support from Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi.

DANG.....I WISH those were the two!!
Kerry/Obama??? Piece of cake...the Swifties will be back out in force...and he was such a loser last time...he will just need to be reminded of that over and over.
I'm John Kerry.....and I'm reporting for duty.
I'm Bill Clinton....and I'm reporting for booty.
I'm Barack Obama...and I'm looking for reparations.
How about a parody of the Wizard of Oz with Hillary as Dorothy?
Bring it to a vote now!
Dorothy (Hillary) would be following the Yellow Brick Road made of gold bars supplied by George Soros.
Poodles don't play hardball.
What ever happened to the word "alleged?" Just as it must not be against the law to lie in a campaign ad, I guess the standards concerning accusations that a newspaper have to use do not apply to a politico. They certainly do make statesmanlike laws. /sarcasm
Ever hear a sory about a Golden Calf?
This is the key to understanding why any Jew would be a liberal...
This is a political trial balloon done by a Senator with a safe seat.
It probably will turn out to be a lead balloon, but there will be many more to follow.
The socialists will probably over play their hand

I got so mad I turned to EWTN. I will NOT watch that oaf Morris tell us that Bush is lazy and Clinton was a hard worker! How asinine!
I wish I hadn't watched...he made me SO MAD!!!
He says that Bush needs to act like has a REAL JOB???
Puh-llleeeeze.
I can see it now...instead of McCain-Feingold...
It will be McCain vs. Feingold...and they would BOTH have to contend with their "wonderful" campaign finance reform.
Morris' suggestion that President Bush go out to the rose garden every day and read something from a podium in order to give the media something to say about him in the next news cycle was outrageous. W has 2 or 3 events each day with PRESS PRESENT. They just don't give it any coverage. They must be there just in case there is something that can be spun as an error. It is infuriating.
Sen. Dodd, on Fox News Sunday, also used the word "lazy" in reference to the Bush White House. Perhaps anything a person does before 9 or 10 in the morning just doesn't count to night owls. I wondered if that was going to be the word of the day, like gravitas was.
The news on MSNBC...characterised it as "Cheney ATTACKED Feingold today in a speech..."
She should be able to get lots of support here and with the Republicannibals in congress...
He got in into the News. He has done his job. They will keep picking away and the MSM eats it up.
The evil Democrats don't run away this quickly unless their own pink little hides are on the line.
They realize that the formal committee report will prove that they were fully briefed on the NSA wiretaps. If they vote for censure, then they indict themselves in the process.
This was fully briefed to the House and Senate Intelligence Committees, and they know it.
Feingold didn't get the memo.
The truth is this is just another pathetic attempt by the Dims to try to create scandal where there isn't any. Further, they desperately want to avenge the Impeachment of the BJ Clinton.
Sen Feingold
