Which flu (every year the flu is different) has had dead birds in the millions from it? When did the flu occur that killed whole entire flocks of chickens?
When was the flu (other than H5N1) that even affected any birds except waterfowl? When chickens die of H5N1, why is it dangerous to feed them to tigers in Thailand? Why should we care?
I'm not worried about H5N1. And I think people who panic are idiots.
Anybody here know where the garden variety flu that we get every year even COMES from? Anybody here ever had the A-Fujiian strain that went around the country last year? I got it from a patient's family members who had it, and I gave it to my husband. We aren't dead, and we were never hospitalized. So--if that's the worst the flu can do, who cares?
True, I had a young nephew, aged 17, tall, strong, funny, athletic, scholarly, popular guy, and he died of the ordinary flu because for some reason, it got into his heart muscle and destroyed it all before he could get a transplant, that was on December 20, 2000. His parents were well to do, and none of his classmates died, it was just one of those flukes I guess...
And out of 6 billion, 6 people dying in Hong Kong (out of 18 who got sick) back in 1997 is NO reason to worry. No reason to bother looking into the H5N1 strains that are circling the globe, becase EVERY flu strain circles the globe. It doesn't matter if birds die, it's not important to anyone except chicken farmers.
It's just an excuse to raise the price of chicken. It's just another boondoggle of ABC. It's not going to kill Americans in any larger numbers than the ordinary flu does now, anyone who tells you different is selling snake oil.
NO need to stock up on basic necessities, the flu is going to mutate to be less deadly--GUARANTEED! And anyway, the government has plans to help you. We can get all the flu vaccine we need, the one we have for N1 is good enough to keep everybody healthy, all they have to do is get their own antibodies to H5, which any ignoramus can do.
Scientists are stupid. They should just make jokes, every damn one of them is politically motivated. Not one does any pure science or has any lofty ideals.
China is a transparent, modern nation that takes good care of its citizens, and would NEVER hide a huge outbreak from the west--they never have before, and they don't fudge the numbers on deaths from disasters that occur there, either. I defy anyone to prove differently. Oh, and pay no attention to Boxun. Buncha dissidents with an ax to grind.
Bird flu? Ain't gonna happen. No freakin' way. Forget it. Blow it off. Lick your fingers at K-Fried.
