smugly boast about how only 'losers' have anything to fear from their precious free trade globalism.

I'm starting to see a little different mood drift through here. No matter which side you are on, it is affecting all of us one way or another. People are seriously worried of what their children will face, even college is no guarantee that they will have gotten them prepared for a good and prosperous life.

Heh, that reminds me of an old cartoon I saw in Hustler Magazine

Heh, that's probably pretty tame compared to some of the stuff I've seen on the net, don't seek it out. I don't feel like talking the drug scene any more tonight. I didn't mean to whine about my gas. I'm lucky it wasn't 4 times that.

Where will it end? I have some dark visions (not literally). We have had locally the cops at three schools already and spring isn't even here. Disturbances with racial overtones. Cops are being assigned two to a car. Budget is so overtaxed they were talking of laying off some. Now this is no big thing where you are, but I am telling you that it was unheard of where I live until the last decade or so and may only get worse. Just kids fighting. Cops in schools? Not when I went to school. They called them once in awhile for an individual or couple, never a large problem. We came and went in safety (apart from kids driving crazy).

Your calico cat. I adore calico cats. Yours is getting up there. I lost mine in August, still miss her, she was the product of a calico shorthair and a Himalayan purebred. We sure had a bunch of beautiful cats from that mix. I'm just about of the cat "business". One left. Don't dare let them outside; their lives are shortened by years. Always wished I could live out somewhere where I could have several and they could go outside more. Then I found out once in awhile the coyotes or something gets them . . .guess there are some still around.

Sleep well. Think of something cheerful. Have a little fun. I think it speaks well of people who at least think and talk about the problems even if they can't do much about it. So many don't seem to care.

Yeah, I know, it's a shame that there are some who still play this game of musical chairs and don't see the problems ahead, until it affects them. I've seen cartoons from Dr. Seuss just prior to World War II where it showed that so many were oblivious to what was going on in Europe in the 1939/41 era that he referred to those who cannot see as ostriches. From his cartoons, he was very tough on those who cannot see trouble coming down the road.

BTW, here is my cat, Pansy:

Pansy: b. 8-19-1987 -

She is very active, playful, loves to play fetch and play in paper bags. Many people think she is only 2 or 3 years old and she is small for a cat, 6 and a half pounds. She does have one medical issue though, a hyperactive thyroid where she got down to 4 lbs, 14 oz but we got her on meds for is so she is up to 6 lbs 7.5 oz, she'd gain a pound back in a month. As long as she is on her meds, she is the same Pansy we've always had.
