I take issue with his comments about the Vietnam flicks. Movies are an art form and I've pretty much liked all of them in one way or another, starting with "Go tell the Spartans." "Apocalypse Now" is a great movie to help any Vietnam vet bring back memories of their own service. Although I was not an Infantryman, "Platoon's" night firefight and "Forrest Gump's" ambush depict the fear and chaos of what must take place. "Deer hunter" is a metaphor, and it has value to me. I served two tours in Nam and don't know anything about the Rambo series.

Yeah. I think "Apocalypse Now" is a pretty funny movie. Some great scenes in it. No one but a liberal idiot would mistake it for a straightforward depiction of the war.

There are quite a few pretty stinking anti-war movies, but I wouldn't include that one.

The one that really annoyed me was "The Killing Fields." Sanctimonious reporter b*stard who weeps for all those dead Cambodians, including his faithful assistant, but never admits that he is the one who is mainly responsible for all those deaths, because he is the one who lied about the war effort and persuaded the American people that we were losing and evil and had to withdraw as soon as possible. Leaving his assistant and millions of other poor suckers to die.

First time I watched Forrest Gump, I had to leave to puke in the head.
I just can't watch most of the in-country stuff.... too eerire I suppose.

Won't let Dad watch the Pvt Ryan for the same reason.
