Here is our exchange:

Nopardons: "It was THE worst signal, in the middle of this war, that America and Americans could send."

Dervish: "Why?"

Nopardons: "Go read the threads that contain the FACTS! Frankly, I'm tired of correcting the lies."

Nopardons to Reagan Man: "The vast majority of ad hominem remarks, insults, and outright lies, came from the antis"

Dervish: "Well I consider your answer to me in post #336 "Go read the threads that contain the FACTS!" (your caps) a sly ad hominem attack. I and others who wanted the port deal nixed have "the FACTS!" We just don't agree with you."

Nopardons: "Then you don't know what an "ad hominem" is". That figures.

Your side has spent the better part of two + weeks, saying that DPW was BUYING ports. That is NOT a fact!"

......................

1) Calling me and all others who disagree with the port deal ignorant of the FACTS is a personal attack. You made that attack all over this thread. Some folks here are even smarter than you and more knowledgeable.

2) Further I never said anyone was buying ports. And I don't have a "side" except the American side. I find myself wondering what dog you have in this race given your vociferous pro-UAE stance.

3) If you did not want to answer my question asking you to "explain" your comment, you should have kept your mouth shut in the first place. I guess you lacked a substantive answer so, to steal a phrase from Mark Levine, you just started flinging the mud balls.

ROTFLOL................

The fact is, that what I said was lied about, was factual.

I AM tired of correcting all of the lies that HAVE been repeatedly posted to FR, for going on three weeks.

It is also a fact, that threads have indeed, been posted to FR, which contain facts, which have been constantly ignored by the antis. No matter how many times the outright lies were countered, those who corrected the lies, WERE attacked and attacked viciously.

There have also been several fact filled threads and posts, which explained not only the possible fallout/consequences/ramifications of what was begun by Chuckles Schumer and then got quite out of hand, but what has already begun to happen. Of course, you choose to denigrate me, instead of bothering to look for the threads I mentioned. Pity that...........................

And FWIW, I have NO monetary interest in DPW's buyout of P&O, nor any other kind of interest whatsoever. What I am aghast at, is the perpetuation of lies.

You're absolutely correct.

From the get-go, most of us who opposed the CFIUS approved deal never said DPW/UAE was buying the ports, and most of us who opposed the CFIUS approved deal never claimed DPW/UAE would be in charge of port security. Several polls taken at the time clearly indicated that most Americans understood these basic facts.

Frankly, for the first week or so, it was semantics gone wild on this issue. Once everyone got the terminology squared away the debate was clearly won by those FReepers who opposed the DPW/UAE deal. Once the American people contacted their CongressCritters with their concerns, the deal was DOA.

Some FReepers like "flinging the mud balls", as opposed to debating the facts. Intellectually lazy folks.
