Old buddy of mine was in the Wehrmacht in WWII (when he was 15). He got put in a POW camp for awhile. Learned to despise British officers for the patronizing way they said "natives".
That's how they refer to you behind your back ~ "native" ~ so "funny little foreign people" is little more than a first strike option.
