Duck Creek flood was '90. It did real harm to the Iowa Quad Cities, including 3 feet of water in my folks' basement. And they were one of the luckier ones. '93 was the Mississippi flood. It polluted the area with an influx of national media and the slimiest of politicians, but did relatively little traditional flood harm until it passed to downstream areas. The worst economic harm it did may have been inspiring local slimy politicians to build the skybridge to nowhere to keep the riverboat gambling going during a future flood. Other major damage was avoided by businesses learning from the '65 river flood and relocating out of that flood plain.

Thank you for the correction JB!
Now that you mention it, it was '90 that I helped clean the sewage and water out of my brother-in-law's basement along Parkway Drive!
(They cleaned every thing they could, replaced everything they couldn't, and promptly sold the place!)
