Did Schieffer say this in the presence of General Pace last week, giving him a chance to respond? Or did he just wait until this week so it could be a monologue?

"What must stop is the ongoing government effort to sugar coat [the lack of progress in Iraq] - trying to blame it on the media or saying it's all going very, very well - as our top general Peter Pace did last week."Damn that General Washington, the troops are desperate in Valley Forge, starving and freezing.
Polls show that most British citizens here think this war was misguided and that we were led into it by false pretenses.</raging sarcasm>

"What theyre seeing is the same bomb going off every 15 minutes on television, as opposed to having an opportunity to see all of whats happening in Iraq," Pace complained. "I believe that the American people who are able to see all that is happening in Iraq would understand much better that progress is being made."
But Schieffer said that kind of talk was not productive Oh. I get it. Telling the truth is not productive to CBS's agenda.

"stop blaming the media" for negative coverage of the Iraq war. Say WHAT?!?
Stop blaming the drunk for driving drunk? Stop blaming the rapist for rape?
Talk about newspeak!

Yep! It was the NYT who wrote the story about THE CIVIL WAR as if it was currently going on and was out of control. I believe the men on the ground in Iraq have a better feel for what's really happening .. and their letters and emails home do not reflect anything like a civil war.
Plus - one of the media - has already written a great article about the fact that HE COULDN'T FIND THE CIVIL WAR THE NYT WAS TALKING ABOUT.
Scheiffer is just another Rather!

CBS "Face the Nation" host Bob Schieffer lashed out at the U.S. military on Sunday, saying top generals need to "stop blaming the media" for negative coverage of the Iraq war. Then stop blaming Joseph Goebbels for the Holocaust. As if words don't matter!

Gee, I kinda feel sorry for Shieffer and the other people at CBS. They don't get the same news were get here at Free Republic. Maybe we can start a fund raiser for the Underprivileged Media Elite. (And I like Patriot from Philly's suggestion to start calling them the Tokyo Rose Media!)
And BTW the way Schieffer - if we aren't going to blame the media for Iraq's failures, we sure as hell won't ever credit the media for Iraq's successes either!

Hello, I'm Bob Schieffer of Complete Bull Sh$%t News, you can get rid of Dan Rather but you can't get rid of CBS, so prepare yourselves for more lies until the day the FCC pulls our license.

This scumbag goes way over the line by insulting General Pace this way. Especially since Schieffer can't even change his own Depends without help.

Ah Bob? Hello? Bob? Bob???? Perhaps if you reported the TRUTH about what's going on in Iraq, things would be different, however, you, like that idiot Dan and the rest of the MSM, just wanna keep spewing negative stuff and not take any responsibility for it. Unfreakinbelievable!
