"If the Soviet Union had agents in the FBI and the CIA, then why would Russia remove or disband them now? They would always be useful. And there appear to be hordes of other leftists in the CIA as well, some possibly agents, some useful idiots, some fellow travelers."

I completely agree. And according to KGB defector (1961) Golitsyn---who won the complete confidence of James Angleton, head of counterintelligence for the CIA---there is no doubt of the Russian penetration of our CIA. He & Angleton confirmed extensive penetration of the Russian section of the CIA in the late 60s. Unfortunately, before they could isolate any individuals, Golitsyn was discredited---and not too long after that Angleton was discredited.

I recently read that one of the main reasons---possibly the main reason---that Golitsyn was discredited was because he opposed Nixon's China policy. Golitsyn was a high-ranking KGB member before he defected. He tells about meetings in Moscow held in 1957 through 1960 to reconcile the International Communist movement. According to Golitsyn, this movement was devastated by Stalin, who insisted on complete control over all communist organizations, including foreign governments.

By 1957, having completed the Prez stolen transition in the Soviet Union, representatives from communist organizations all over the world---both governments and nongovernment groups---were invited to a series of conferences in Moscow.

There, the Soviets restored the Communist movement by instituting a principal of local economy (Golitsyn does not detail exactly how this would've varied for different communist groups. Clearly, China's complete independence from the Soviet Union would have been acknowledged. This obviously would not have happened with Eastern Europe---but even there, Golitsyn makes clear, that some degree of local autonomy was granted.

At any rate, having patched up the dispute between the Soviet Union and China, they decided to continue the dispute on a fake level, according to Golitsyn (who remember, was actually there---and even helped to develop this strategy himself.) According to Golitsyn, Nixon's idea of playing China off against Russia completely fell into the trap that had been set for him in this regard. This, Nixon did not want to hear.

Considering how the media and popular opinion was effected during the Vietnam war by the communist founded SDA, students for a democratic society, and their antiwar tactics, we can see why we are so ineffectual now when dealing with antoher real enemy, Islamic Jihad.
They have hit us on all levels. It appears very obvious that they are inciting Islamic fundimentalist nations against us and we are sucked right in with realy not many options. It started a long time ago and their plan appears to be working.
