LOL! I am glad you were able to get something out of it. Usually when I reference it I am ignored or shunned.

BTW, I notice that you have been here over a year, just a few days "newer" than myself. Somehow at 1 AM I read your sign up date as '06. Sorry about that. Did the html Sandbox help? I learned a lot from it.

I have yet to address it. I am incredibly lazy about learning that kind of thing.

Responses I know well. The thing we have to keep reminding ourselves out is: these responses have been programmed-in by the Russians themselves!

The fact is, Russia has become the greatest subversive country in the history of the world. You know, the Russians subverted the Polish government for centuries. A woman from Poland told me that that ridiculous law in the Polish parliament (like one person could veto a law) was actually something put in by the Russians, somehow.

So, the Russians came into communism with this talent for subversion. Russia was famous among your European countries for its secrecy and its secret police---before communism! consider how the Russian nobles maintained power---by turning the czar into an alcoholic when he was still a child---something they did repeatedly!

Obviously, communism helps develop these capabilities in any country. But in Russia, the talent for subversion has simply blossomed beyond anything else in history.

When they first worked at subverting the United States, in the 30s, 40s, and 50s, they were detected in many instances. But they learned from their mistakes. Of course, the crowning glory was the breakup of the Soviet Union in 1991 or so. Golitsyn views this as a fake event. I think he overstates it. There are some real things about the breakup, but many fake things as well. The fakest of fake things is the idea that the Russians gave up their control over international communism.

The key thing is: remaining undiscovered is the first objective---above all others. To achieve this, they have given up a considerable amount of control to local operatives.

Tight control would inevitably be discovered---especially in the current environment of anti-terrorism suspicions. (Remember, tight control requires a lot of signals.) The Russians are always willing to let some part of the American Left run off the rails---even conflict with another part of the Left, if they have to. Anything is better than precipitate action. That is what would lead to detection.

The slow accretion of force is better than the rapid move for control.
