In a television commercial airing in major California media markets, state Controller Steve Westly evokes former President Carter to boost his conservationist credentials.
NARRATOR: He's practical ... a problem solver with experience that sets him apart.
Under President Carter, he worked on solar energy and conservation.
Pro-choice. Defender of the environment. Committed to education.
Steve Westly. Democrat. A different kind of governor.
.... Analysis: ...... But while the ad shows a young Westly shaking Carter's hand, the former president hasn't endorsed his candidacy. Deanna Congileo, a spokeswoman for the Carter Center in Atlanta, said he makes no endorsements in primary elections. However, she said the Center has "no objections" to Westly using his photo.

this guy has rabbits in his closet.
Minister Sundheim: Tell them that Westly is dirty and vicious. He'll rob their children and and take their homes.
FairOpinion: OK Minister. I'm off to the forum.
Minister Sundheim: "Good Luck!" he echoes as he enters the elevator at the Hyatt.
Gag. Isn't Westly considered the "moderate" of the two Dems?
Another of his ads says something like "You can tell a lot about a person's character by the positions he takes." It then goes on to list six or so issues and he is on the wrong side of every issue (if you have brains and/or morals). But to those who live in San Francisco, I'm sure he is connsidered very moderate, just like Barbara Boxer is.
