Missing Tri-state soldier Matt Maupin will be inducted in the non-commissioned officer corps Saturday during a ceremony in Reynoldsburg, Ohio.
The ceremony signifies the soldier is ready for more responsibilty and leadership positions.
The soldier from Batavia was captured when his convoy was attacked in Iraq in April 2004.
Maupin is the only soldier listed as "captured" for Operation Iraqi Freedom.
My heart is heavy knowing we have ONLY ONE MIA military member in Iraq and we should do all we can to remember him. To remind those that we support them in their efforts to locate Sgt. Maupin and that I know they will never leave knowing one of their own is missing.
There are two, don't forget Captain Scott Speicher, USN.
roger that, FMC...we need to find him, and bring him home...
ditto
PING
An honor that puts Sgt. Maupin back into the news, which reminds fellow American's that he is still missing, that his family waits day after day for news.
My prayer's go to the family as they await news of their beloved and patriotic son. That the rest of America indeed does not forget this fine young man.
Fair enough, I was speaking of the current conflict and to be honest, many more are aware of Speicher and have pursued his where abouts with zeal.
It would be wonderful if they do the same for Sgt. Maupin.
Every life is important and their where about's should be a priority, we do not leave any of our guys behind.
Again, thank you for the reminder of Speicher.
Thank you for pinging me Former Military Chick.
Pinging the Canteen!
We have not forgotten Sgt.Maupin!
This is great that they are doing this.
I would think that we should have enough sources in Iraq by now to get some idea where Maupin and Speicher are.
"Never Forget" Bump...
Thank you for getting the word out. I know that many on FR haven't forgotten about this fine young man. But, it seems the rest of the country may have. Any number of missing would be tragic but to have only ONE from this conflict and little outcry over his where about's is quite frustrating to me.
If it is frustrating to me, I can only imagine what the family must be going through.
Again, thank you friend.
Have his bracelt right here. Never forgotten.
Matt Maupin BUMP!
Bump for MSS, too!
The pain for the families must border on the unbearable at times.
Yes, the more he is mentioned in the news, the better. We have Matt's "Love never loses its way home" magnetic ribbons on our vehicles and interestingly, as I pulled into a parking lot, a lady pulled in alongside, rolled down her window and asked about Matt and what the story was. I told her and she wrote things down and said she was passing the word. I know it's a small thing but who knows where such things might lead?
Lord, I bring before you now Sgt. Keith Matthew Maupin, our soldier who has been captured, and ask that You would uphold him with Your right hand. Be his rock in the midst of uncertainty and his light in the midst of darkness. Guard his heart from fear and strengthen him according to Your Word. Cause him Lord, to lie down and sleep in peace for You alone are his safety.
Surround him Lord with Your favor as a shield. Soften the hearts of those who watch over him and cause them to show compassion and mercy. Keep the heart of Sgt. Keith Matthew Maupin filled with hope, and guard him from despair. Be near to him Lord, for Your nearness is his good, and bring him back safely to his family. In Jesus mighty name, Amen.
I was unaware of the magnetic ribbon's that you have obtained. Do you have a source where I might be able to get one, I would gladly display it proudly.
You are correct about keeping his name in the news. Adding the ribbon to the story and indeed who knows where the such things might lead.
Excellent comment, friend.
Thank you for putting up this thread FMC. It is soooo important to keep him in our hearts & prayers as well as his family!
I too would like to know where such a ribbon can be aquired brushcop.
I know you guys got my private reply, try this: yellowribbonsupportcenter.com, which is Matt's parent's site, although I just could not get to the actual ribbon that should be available but it has a contact email address. Keep Matt's and Speicher's memories alive--and thank you!
Prayers every day for Matt Maupin's safe return. May He "feel" the prayers that are being lifted up all over this country, and may the Lord return him home soon.
