civilians who go to war zones and terror-nests should be required to sign a binding release form, stipulating that they should be considered legally dead if ever kidnapped.

Every American civilian knows that if he/she is kidnapped that our government don´t negotiate with terrorists. We go anyway, most of us wanted to do something infighting the war on terrorism or to help the Iraqi people rebuild their country.
I for one, never had any illusions working security details for people involved in rebuilding Iraq that my government would help me if I were kidnapped and neither did any of my team mates. We carried weapons and made up our minds to take as many of the bastards with us as we could.
