PresBush was defiant on this ports issue from the get-go. In the end, Bush`s threats to cast his first veto, favoring UAE business concerns over those of American interests, the President was rewarded with a big fat public smackdown. And rightfully so. This was a huge bureaucratic blunder from the start.

Instead of demanding a full inquiry into every aspect and every detail, Bush chose to pick a fight with the American people and the GOP Congress. By a 62-2 margin the House committee voted to oppose the DPW/UAE deal. Hastert and Frist TOLD Bush they would oppose him. Even after being proven wrong in the court of public opinion, Bush has continued to show a level of arrogance that undermines his support and shows poor leadership on his part. Bottom line. Bush lost this fight BIGTIME!

The Muslim Sheiks who control and operate the UAE, and other Islamic nationstates of the ME, won't be divesting in the US. Their investments will be going up. They won't be kicking the worlds only superpower out of their ports and bases either. We protect these dictatorial Sheiks and their Islamic sheikdoms from acts of terrorism. Nothings changed.

Except a bunch of whining Bush apologizers/sycophants on FreeRepublic have to eat crow on this one for acting like spoiled brats.

Baloney. Dubya pushed DPW to offer a 45 day review. Congress said "we don't need no stinking review," and pushed for a vote without a review of the facts.

Eat crow? What for? Because the GOP Congress and some imbecilic Bush haters unthinkingly joined with the rats and drive-by media? Don't make me laugh.

Gee, you make them sound like good allies.

You've come full circle with your talking points.

So if the Muslim Sheiks who control and operate the UAE won't be divesting in the U.S. after a failed port deal and if the Muslim Sheiks who control and operate the UAE won't be kicking out our military after a failed port deal, then what makes you think that they were a risk to send WMD through our ports in the first place?

Congress voted to bypass the inquiry, not the president.

BTW the 62-2 vote also included a military appropriations bill to fund both Iraq and Afghanistan. You really have to have your head up your butt to ignore that fact and claim that all 62 of those votes were in opposition to the deal.

The spoiled brats were on the other side of the argument, Reagan Man.

Adults use reason to make decisions. Children use emotion and fear.

This decision was not based on the facts.........it was based on unfounded fear and whipped up hysteria........on YOUR side. (That would be you and the leftist media and the Rats, joining forces to stifle intelligent discussion of the issue).

The 'will of the people' was not involved because the people were never given the accurate information..........and those of us who bothered to find it out, did not oppose the deal.

(btw, 'spoiled brats' continue to call people names after they perceive themselves to be the winners of an argument. This is a Phyrric victory for you and your leftist cohorts, RM. There has been much more lost here, than won..........and you are gloating about it).

I hope you are enjoying yourself. The U.S. Navy is going to get kicked out of UAE along with the U.S. Air force. Have a good laugh.
