I think the barge took out a different section of the wall.

There were a LOT of breaches in the wall, caused by many different things, and most discussions are about a single collapse and it isn't clear which one is being discussed.

"It's also easy to see that you can't build anything on mud and shifting sand that water can't move. Period."

That's true, but there is plenty of good money to be made trying.

Enjoyed your poem.

CE's build targets, ME's build weapons.

What this report means is that the levees cannot simply be repaired at the breaks.

The entire system will have to be redone. What is the cost for that in today's dollars?

We shouldn't rebuild buildings in these flooded areas again, unless we are willing to pay the billions now and the additional billions again later when another overlooked "problem" comes to fruition - as it surely will!

Instead of levees and floodwalls, dams are needed...and that would take some serious cash.

The 'problem' was building below the water level in the first place.

LOL. Don't confuse politicians or the public with facts.

Man puts hand in fire. Hand is burned.
Problem?
Fire too hot. Fire in wrong place. GWB started the fire. Government didn't anticipate man putting his hand in fire and supply him with a free asbestos glove in advance. Fire caused by global warming, also the fault of GWB.
