Yes it's stupid and funny to an extent, but 9/11 was no joke and the train bombings, while not as deadly as the WTC atrocity, were still responsbile for a lot of death and destruction.

So what if it's not just idle boasting. What if they do pull off a big one/two punch. We are still vulnerable. (Look at the Mexican border). More thousands dead is some horrible, clever terror attack. What then? Do we have to keep listening to Jorge telling us "it's just the fanatics"? Do we have to put up with the enemy within secretly glad it has happened.

I personally am almost thinking a container nuke or something due to the harping of people like Schumer on the "only one out of 200 containers is searched" refrain. Hey, schmuck, shut up already. Go have some closed door sessions with the Homeland Security department, use your vast influence to pass some funding for the tools and people to do a better job. Quit pointing out our weaknesses on national TV. Jeeze!!

What would your response be to the catastrophic loss of two American cities to Al Q suitcase nukes, for instance. Say Denver and Phoenix get nuked. How would you respond? What should Bush do?

Living in NYC, I'm pretty much aware of the seriousness of the threats. I was trying to add some humor.

In seriousness -- we need to figure out how to protect ourselves as a country. I don't doubt that we'll eventually figure it out, but it needs to be worked through in a reasonable and methodical manner that is free of "politics."
