-I didn't make any jokes about it, if that's what you mean. But I'm not worried about it either. The way the port deal went down was bad; poor PR management on the part of the administration, and hysteria on the part of many opposed in congress.

I'll confess I had my concerns about the deal, but they weren't so much related to security, as they were to Dubai being a dictatorship, albeit benevolent.
I'm too tired to go into that all again, so anyway:

Life will go on, business will continue.
The Dubai port will remain open to our freighters...and our American ports will remain open to UAE oil tankers, etc.

You will not find the costs of this debacle there. The costs are in the message to the region, the business that won't be awarded to US companies, the potential increased higher risks to our military assets including the men and women on leave in the UAE, the protectionism that is growing in this country, the higher costs and risks of a less well suited operator that DPW sells to, etc. etc. etc.

I'm not so sure about that tonight, because of the weasels in Washington, I think I now know the meaning to the label 'The Ugly American'. I feel really ashamed of what the Representatives we sent to the Capitol did today and fear we may never recover fully from their actions.
