I wasn't comparing his politics to Reagan but if he could win New York and California... a possible sweep could be had.

I think the GOP nominee and winner of the election will be George Allen.

Every time Dr. Rices's name is mentioned as a possible candidate. the Condi-haters jump in and scream, "We don't know anything about her views!" (even though she has written several books and many articles).

However when any other Republican name is mentioned we NEVER hear "We don't know anything about his views!"

Could there be a double standard in play here?

I went to the Allen for Senator website to see if I could find anything about HIS views. All it says is that the sight is under construction and please click on the Contribute Now button. So far, all I know about Allen's views is that he wants contributions.

Not exactly a reason to want him for President.

I really don't think he would be any worst than what Clinton did and would probably be better.

The survey said those supportive of Clinton tend to be young, ethnic, liberal and either non-Christian or nonreligious.

They're also functionally illiterate. Having been educated in California's social promoting school system.

These polls mean NOTHING!

Yep. I've said this on other threads. We're being set up for the Great Comeback. After the '06 elections Hillary will go on a national "Listening Tour" to "reintroduce" her to the voters. This will be followed by a series of stories showing ordinary folks being charmed by her, telling us they didn't know how warm and human she really was. This will be followed by new polls showing her numbers climbing, followed by a series of Comeback Kid 2 stories. Just wait. She has to be made to look vulnerable now so she can surge later.

Wouldn't be as good as W.

As much as I am angry with W, I have nothing but praise for his gun control policy.

Rudy was the mayor of NYC, I don't know what his stance would be on gun control nationally.

Democrats (77 percent) and nonpartisan (74 percent) voters

This is a good example of the fact that there is no difference between dems and independants.

Remember these numbers when you see weighted polls.

Try some of these websites

I did. When I clicked on the link for "Issues" - this is what I got (3 little blurbs)

:"My first priority in the U.S. Senate is keeping Virginia a safe place to live, work, learn and raise a family. I will continue to work to honor our law enforcement and give them the tools they need to keep our communities safe."

Providing the Tools to Succeed "Our positive, constructive agenda for our children will raise the standards for our schools and hold them accountable. Our children deserve the best education to succeed."

Fighting for Virginia's Taxpayers "Virginia's families and workers pay enough in taxes each year. Cutting taxes across the board creates an atmosphere of innovation and opportunity for all Americans."

Allen wants to keep Virginia safe
provide tools for success
lower taxes.

There isn't much detail there.

Now check out Condi2008.com and click on CondiNews I&II - there are dozens and dozens of articles she has written and speeches she has given. Her views are clearly spelled out.

Now, I have nothing against Allen, in fact I know very little about him.

I'm merely trying to point out the double standard of "We don't know anything about Condi's views" - when her views are there for the reading, yet these same people never say that about any other possible candidate.

I thought that type of behaviour was restricted to liberals. Evidentally not.

However, you must realize that the Condi2008 website WAS NOT DONE by her. Allen's senate website is stating his views of what he plans to d in terms of representing Virginia. The other sites give a very clear indication of Allen's voting record, this does tell you about him.

I have nothing against Condi Rice, but I would not support her in the primaries (though I would vote for her if she was the nominee). Her speeches are great, but they deal primarily with foreign policy issues. The big problem Condi has is that she is pro-abortion, I just don't see the GOP going for that.

I wasn't trying to start anything, I was just wondering if you were aware of something specific that I wasn't.

Do you have any ideas of who would be a good nominee?

Sorry if I seemed agitated, I wasn't. Really, I'm at a loss for ideas on potentially good candidates. I still like Condi but, that dog (pardon the slang) might not hunt.
