"I don't even know what you're talking about. You seem a bit hysterical."

If you'll notice the hysteria was a quote from a very nervous citizen.

The hysteria that was orchestrated by the DEMS.

The UAE had stability and security long before the US was in their ports. They are now the banking center for the Middle East and will be protected because of everyone's self interests.

They can put considerable pressure by just threatening the limiting the number of ports of call or booting the Coast Guard from their authority in their country.

It would be good for their business and would be an effective retaliation for this dimwitted move by Congress.

They gave the President a well earned personal smite. His handling of this deal was a truely incompetent mess; starting with the prefunctory review, the threat to veto, and his flight to far off lands during the last crucial week of debate. But, he is just an employee, responsible to the country, and to his party. If, he decides to use this personal affront as an excuse to trun his back on either, then he is really just not doing his job. We are not here to kiss his furry bottom; he is there to deliver the goods; and, so far he has managed to muck it up, and he still refuses to listen.

I understand you have the right to disagree with Bush, but calling him a dimb-ass is uncalled for on FR.

I think the Congress critters could have come out in support of the President in some interview or something on this. Instead, they were cowards and use military spending as an out. It was despicable. I hope no one from Congress who voted on this intends to be nominated for POTUS next time around...

I think you are completely wrong.. I think this wasn't see-able... because it was in the public press for several months.. and was a big yawn...

Rather, something changed.. that made this deal into dry tinder, so that this lobbiest could set a match to it..

This was the Danish Cartoon protests and our own press's despicable response of cowering and submitting. The Danish Cartoon caper.. caused alot of Americans to discover for the first time that Islamist intend to force us to recognize Mohammad as requiring special status above all religions or we would face threats of death and dismemberment for any individual who upsets these people..

For the first time.. people felt the real individual terror of subjugation by Radical Islamists and they were upset. But, this visceral response has no focus, no opportunity to be expressed. So along comes this deal, which was processed routinely in "secret" (as a non-political process) as required by law passed by Congress and this is run as turning over the ownership of the largest ports in the United States to a country that helped plan and finance (gross distortions - Germany, US, Saudi Arabia, Spain, and many other countries would have to fall to the same test.. if all it takes to help is to allow terrorists to have a bank account.. or to cross through.. Germany is where the 4 leaders met and planned 911 details before coming to US.) But, this is what had changed.. why this was all of the sudden obviously a big problem.. because the American public is upset, very upset.. all over these stupid cartoons..

See #63:

How would you describe his handling of this issue? Just having a bad day?

This, being a conservative site, is what draws most of us to FR. In my opinion, most of us are way to the right of Bush.

"I think this wasn't see-able... because it was in the public press for several months.. and was a big yawn..."

I don't agree and here's why:

Ever since 9-11, Bush has been spewing this "religion of peace" crap. He has been ridiculed constantly on FR for taking this public stance.

Many, including myself, trusted Bush and consoled ourselves by telling ourselves that he was just playing the game, and there was "no way" he believed it. We thought he really did have a plan...

This port deal makes it clear that he really did believe it. And we are Pi$$ed.

A Dubai-owned company will control 23 American ports - not six - as a result of the deal approved by a Bush administration panel in January.

Start out with the "BIG LIE" and then build on it. Our elected officials are evil and stupid.

This was primarily PR from the Eller Company who opposed the deal on other grounds, said they weren't interested in the operations from the start, and now say they would love to buy the Operations from DP World.

Our elected officials are evil, ignorant, and greedy. They think WE'RE stupid.

Question: what's the difference between a liberal republican and a conservative republican?

Answer: there are fewer and fewer of the latter.

Stop with the political analysis based on "republican" and "democrat". Start with the political analysis based on conservative and liberal.

You'll be much more accurate.

This is all about the unions and making sure whomever manages the ports works within the current (mob run, no doubt) framework with the union.

If they are buying 23 ports, it is not from P&O.
