Son of Oklahoma City bomber facing prison in Las Vegas case
LAS VEGAS (AP) - The son of Oklahoma City bomber Terry Nichols could be sentenced to up to 17 years in prison following his conviction on four felonies and a misdemeanor in a stolen car case.
Joshua Nichols, 23, was acquitted Tuesday of the two most serious charges on which he was tried - attempted murder of two officers with a deadly weapon, the vehicle.
A Clark County District Court judge set sentencing for April 26 on two charges of assault with the use of a deadly weapon, plus resisting an officer and possession of a stolen vehicle, all felonies. He's also charged with battery of an officer, a gross misdemeanor.
Defense lawyers and Nichols' mother, Lana Padilla, called the verdict a victory because the jury acquitted him of charges carried a possible sentence of four to 40 years in prison. Padilla is Terry Nichols' ex-wife.(snip)
