I think it would be hilarious if the UAE said, "You want to use our ports for your Navy ships... Pay us $100 billion per year.

I figure only someone who despises America could find that funny.

Don't be so sure they won't. And that will be just the start. This is going to cost us in ways most people haven't even started to think about yet.

I think it would be even funnier if we told the U.E.A. that if they wanted us to continue to protect their sorry, antisemitic, anti-freedom, anti-democratic asses from their fellow muslims who think they are too decadent for sharia law and covet their wealth, then they can just give us all the oil they have.

And I think a hilarious response would be the USA turning the UAE into rubble.

go ahead, yuk it up!

Dubai threat to hit back (UAE Threatens Against Boeing and US Bases Support)

Personally, I didn't think security was going to be much of a problem, (after getting informed.) My concerns about the UAE also may have been unfounded (for freedoms of speech, religion, human rights, etc)

But the administration handled this deal very poorly. rather then let people become informed and get up to speed about DP WOrld, the UAE, and the port deal, they jumped in with calling people bigots, etc.

The American people, after 9/11, had every right to ask questions about the port deal. Given time the public could have been more informed, and this didn't have to turn out this way. There was no need to rush this deal through.
Pres. Bush could have stepped back, instead of immediately threatening a veto.

This was a PR fiasco, and the blame rests with administration officials.
