I could tell a lot of stories.
We had a station wagon and were going to another town 30 miles away. A Highway Patrolman stopped Mom and came up to the door. He said "Mam, you have too many kids in that car". My Mom didn't even blink. She replied "You know, I have been thinking the same thing. Take which ever ones you want."
He went back to his car, turned a U-turn and left.
The problem with families these days is that they see children as an expense, not the cheap source of labor that they are (and traditionally have been).
We have a 13 month old daughter (best thing that has ever happend to me). I've told my wife that with 2 more we can open a Nike Factory in our basement.
Just kidding...sorda
*grin* Like you, I'm shy. Except when I'm debating.
It _won't_ get to the point where there will be
sanctions against people who have more than one
child, because we won't let it.
Thanks again!
Ugh. That's even worse. I think I know the type.
Big, happy family ping! :)
Because I am shy, I am not talented in debating and never "think well on my feet".
The program is on now. Leadin was the story on the last thread I posted on today, criminal from Maine caught by lady he was dating when a friend suggested she look him up on the computer.
Note to self: DO NOT REPEAT DO NOT call in today.
Rookie!
Don't worry about their reactions. Hopefully, they will come around one day. We had family encourage us to abort our first five babies because we were college students and/or too poor. They have changed their tune and regretted their earlier opinions. Our children have been a blessing to these relatives by giving them a new attitude toward life. Lots of years of hard knocks had made these folks bitter and resentful of any added burdens. I believe God used our children to nudge them back toward Him.
"I am often asked by women how they can tell whether the men they are dating are marriage material. I tell them, "See if he enjoys children." A man who loves children is playful. He will spend his life joking with his wife because he loves to see her laugh, and will flirt with her because he loves to see her smile."
Raising children is the ultimate act of self-sacrifice. This article was so profound tears came to my eyes.
I'm pursuing graduate level degree
That is funny! I would think that having a good sense of humor would be a given for one with such a large, vibrant family.
Please FReepmail me if you would like to be added to, or removed from, the Pro-Life/Pro-Baby ping list...
My oldest turned ten today. I so miss those baby days, and I feel that I still want one more. I turn 39 in a few weeks.
I love giving to my children and my husband. What I receive by giving is immeasureable.
What a wacky world.
What I receive by giving is immeasureable.... I feel the same way. I never expected Lela and I am so thankful to God for her. I think by being an older mother I enjoy her way more then I did when I was in my early 20's and had my first 3 children. My adopted son brian who has been in my life since 7 yrs old (now 24) has also brought much joy into our family too. My other 3 children are great too but but I feel a special bond with Brian & Lela.
Thanks for sharing that. It's great to hear from others who feel the same way! :)
Thanks for the ping!
I saw it earlier - Rabbi Boteach is a bit of a goof sometimes, but his delight in his family is contagious :-).
For themselves, of course!
