“American journalism at its best is a public trust and is deeply bound up in our system of checks and balances,”

Rather's rules:

1) Don't check your sources
2) It's okay to lie if makes conservatives look bad
3) It's not your fault if you get caught doing the 2 above - simply blame an underling.

4) The truth is irrelevant....all that matters is doing everything possible to help the Democrats and the Left.

5) Being caught in a lie is a badge of honor, as it provides yet another opportunity to blame the Evil Republican /RightWing / Christian Attack Machine

6) Honor is not a virtue

7) Professional standards are for sissies

8) What's right for me isn't what's right for everyone else, because I'm better than everyone else.

Thanks for the ping and link!

"CBS fired four employees over the story and an independent review criticized Rather for "errors of credulity and over-enthusiasm." Rather says his departure from the anchor desk was voluntary."

I'll never forget the sweaty, disheveled Danny on my TV screen the day after the election and he STILL hadn't called it....

It's one thing for Dan to be an utterly arrogant, egomaniacal, unprofessional Democrat operative masquerading as an objective, independent journalist.

It's quite another for anyone else in the 'news' media to give him or his words any credence whatsoever anymore, much less the ultra-valuable face time.

Any media outlet that has anything to do with him anymore can be considered as being an apologist for him and his unrepentantly unprofessional actions, and should be regarded as being actively sympathetic to his shamelessly partisan goals.

At this point, the only real protection that we have from people like him is the "OFF" button on our TV sets    :-)

Not so fast Dan, I'm not done basking in the afterglow. Got a cigarette?

Great pic! I'll have to save it. The idea for the UID came from Monty Python & the HG.

Unfortunately too many Americans don't have that sense. LOL As the baby boomers pass, so too will the evening snewses.

Rather and Jimmy Carter need to get together. Both are oblivious to the extreme irony their lives have taken on. Even as they strive daily to wrong the rights that have been made in this country, under the delusion of compassion, still they manage somehow to confuse *current* with *former*. And *relevant* with *useless*. And they have taken away our ability to look for some kind of goodness in them as they reach the end of their journey. How's that for ultimate irony, boys?

Me neither  :-)

Got a cigarette?

No cigs in the stoat cave, but how about a nice cigar?

Be sure to blow the smoke in Dan's face   :-)

Great pic!

I'm delighted that you like it. :-)  Most of the other "fruitbat hanging upside down" pics that I found had the wings folded up against itself, whereas this one looks a bit more lively and ready to take off at a moment's notice.  Obviously a Conservative Fruitbat ready to take off and do battle against Left-wingers   :-)

 I'll have to save it.

Be my guest.  It's not mine....I merely snapped my fingers and sucked it out of the ether and into the stoatputer   :-)

The idea for the UID came from Monty Python & the HG.

I suspected as much   :-)  Nice to find another Python fan here at FR  :-)

And, unfortunately, they are allowed to vote.   """SAD""""

As the baby boomers pass, so too will the evening snewses.

Let us all hope and pray that you are absolutely right   :-)

A common problem among Liberals and the Left, unfortunately.

Agreed.  Instead of politely exiting Stage Left, they continue to harangue the sane people of the world with their own particular brands of idiocy.  Both appear to be focused, as is Clinton, on their legacies and are desperate to salvage anything at all that will cause future generations to do something other than to recoil from their memory.  I would simply turn away in disgust if it were not a matter of them both retaining enough power at this point to do significant damage to the world.  Thankfully we have adults in the White House for a change and that gives me some small degree of solace.

That woman in the picture next to Dan was my Freshman year Engrish teacher, Mrs. Pecker! We also had a science teacher named Richard Head! Imagine if they got married, and her last name was hyphenated?

Anyhoo, I wish I knew about his appearance, I would have been down for a one-man freeping. From what the article says, Cherry Hill's whole guest-speaker program is going the way of the mainstream media--extinct. One reason given was lack of participation. A no-brainer when your average speaker is Bill Clinton, Madeline Albright, Desmond Tutu, Bill Maher, Roger Ebert, Al Franken, and Goldie Hawn.

MARCIN SZCZEPANSKI/Courier-Post
Dan Rather chats with Marsha Pecker, chairwoman of the Star Forum, in Cherry Hill on Wednesday.

It would most likely not be a name that would be acceptable to the FR censors  :-)  "cough"

Anyhoo, I wish I knew about his appearance, I would have been down for a one-man freeping.

They may have intentionally 'neglected' to put out any publicity regarding his appearance precisely because they didn't want any alternative viewpoints being expressed.

And with all due respect, I am guessing that you would most likely not have been alone, as I'm sure that there are many Joisey  - area FReepers who would have been delighted to help you out   :-)

My college is pretty much the same way....all Lefties, all the time.
