This isn't the day of 16 knots per hour ships.

That would be pretty under powered ship, to only be able to get up to 16 knots or from 10 to 26 knots in a whole hour.

Hint: knots == nautical miles per hour. Knots per hour would thus be nautical miles/hour/hour, an accelleration not a speed.

Odd mistake for a "snipe" to make.

I know but I still have an offical ships fact sheet printed onboard ship. Top speed "Over 30 knots". Of course she went much much faster LOL.

Never mind I see what you're saying. I wasn't even using nautical miles for my estimates. I was simply using a rough figure guesstimate of 40MPH speed and factored it into the distance and time. Most of the ones who dealt with that stuff on the ship were the Quarter Masters and Deck Apes. Some snipes down in the IC rooms would know also as it was their equipment that did the actual measuring. I just worked on the chillers and reefers :>} and was TAD to Liberty Boats in foreign boats.
