When I first heard about this deal, I wasn't happy about it at all. Within a day or two, as the facts came out amidst the hysteria on FR, I just kept saying that now we've ticked off the very people we need to trust and the military has trusted. This is about as bad an outcome as I could envision.
I'm listening to Gen. Pace on Rush right now and he's saying he couldn't ask for a better partner in that region.
Years of building trust in the region is now gone. It is a setback that could take years to overcome.
I was taken aback too at first until I looked into what it entailed. When very knowledgable people like Tommy Franks come out in favor of this it also influences my opinion. Today I am returning my envelope that I WAS going to put my contribution to the RNC in, with a little note that they can stick it up theirs and the congress/senate critters collective a$$ for their lack of support for the president and this deal.
